RAM House can only be responsible for behaviors on their property. Events that happen off our property or out of the reach of our camera system, should be reported to the City Police. Neighbors are encouraged not to directly approach our clients, rather report issues so they can be handled by trained RAM House staff.
Guest Code of Conduct:
Effective Date: July 1, 2026
Applicable To: All Day Residents of Roanoke Area Ministries
1. The "Good Neighbor" Rule
Our presence in this neighborhood depends on mutual respect. Guests agree to:
• Zero Loitering: No loitering, sitting, or lying down on sidewalks or private property within a two-block radius of the shelter.
• Litter Control: Use provided trash receptacles. Do not discard cigarette butts, food wrappers, or personal items on the street.
• Noise Levels: Maintain respectful volume levels when entering or exiting the building or anywhere around the premises.
2. Safety & Substance Policy
To maintain a safe environment for everyone:
• Weapon-Free Zone: No weapons of any kind (including pocket knives) are permitted on-site.
• Sobriety on Premises: The use or sale of alcohol or illegal drugs on-site or within the immediate perimeter is strictly prohibited.
• Search Policy: Guests agree to a bag check/security screening upon entry to help ensure the safety of all participants.
3. Personal Conduct
• Mutual Respect: Harassment, threats, intimidation, or aggressive language toward staff, volunteers, other guests, or neighbors will result in immediate removal.
• Property Respect: Do not lean on, sit on, or interfere with neighboring fences, porches, landscaping, or business storefronts.
4. Accountability & Consequences
We believe in second chances while prioritizing the safety and peace of our community.
• First Violation: Verbal warning and documented incident report.
• Second Violation: Written warning and temporary suspension of services (24–72 hours).
• Third Violation or Serious Incident: Long-term or permanent barment (trespass) from the facility.
